Raidio Shack PA Amp

I think I want to work on this amp as I bought it from a thrift shop non-working and got it going by removing one of the ribbon cable connections, cleaned it and it started working. Found out it worked really good with guitar and would jam on it from time to time but it quit working again. So I cleaned the ribbon cable connection again and it started working again but the pep and flair for guitar sound seemed to be now missing.

I been thinking about trashing it but I am kinda interested to see if I could work on a transistor circuit and get it working right again. I know practically nothing about transistor/IC amps. So I'm sure some of my tube amp circuit knowledge would
apply but a lot wouldn't. What would be the best way to proceed?

I have tried to find a schematic but no success. It's 40 watts and a model 805024

without a schematic and scope, SS is near impossible, aside from what you've already discovered.. connectors, jacks, bad solder...
I had a couple 10W mono R.S. for my 1st stereo!!


not sure if SAMS are still a thing but they had about every schematic to anything electronic up til i "moved on" ~'80 to major systems.

I watched a video of SS Guitar Amp trouble shooting and repair. He used a sound generator and tool to test transistors. It was a vintage SS amp, not a more modern one with micro components. He had quite a time getting her done shown in two separate videos. No, on second thought I don't think I need to torture myself with that. I may look at it again and see I can get it going again by checking/cleaning connections and then if it don't perk up, will chunk it so it won't be around to temp me to waste time on it anymore:>)
