There have been a lot of posts regarding Rob Robinette’s Soldano analysis, schematics, and building different versions. The information is just fantastic. I also bought the Kuehnel Soldano SLO book and digested that. 2 years ago I began heading towards a Soldano clone build.
I was leaning towards a turret board and began layout of a RR 6L6 version and at the same time was considering buying the Rosamp kit, for a couple of reasons:
1) Nice chassis that was ready to go, spittin’ image and function of the Soldano
2) Circuit board and components ready to go
3) Assembly required
I decided to go for the Rosamp, I bought it last summer, I didn’t actually start building it until early this year, and so often it wound up on the back burner. I finally buttoned it up a month ago, and it sounds fantastic!! Quiet as can be!! I did change the crunch resistor divider network, it was too over the top for me. Last week I built the head cabinet.
I just want folks looking for this type of a build to know that the Rosamp is an excellent way to go. Last summer when I bought it, it was $758 shipped to the USA for the complete kit less tubes. Today, it looks like it's gone up to $888, inflation and tariffs I guess...
It was a great way to go.
