DIY Brownface faceplate work
« on: August 10, 2025, 05:29:42 pm »
Just thought Id post this

Im building a 6g16 clone for a friend aka the 'Voodoo-verb'
We are using a DR chassis and face plate as a base.

For the face plate Ive flipped it over and used the reverse side so that he still has the DR plate should he ever want it.

Step 1. Painted the plate white
Step 2. Used adhesive lettering and low tack masking
Step 3. multiple powder coats of rustoleum espresso satin (kinda perfect fender browpanel colour)
Step 4. Fire it in the over real quick with each coat (yeh not great I kjnow...)
Step 5. Matt clear coat
Done!

Artsy
A bus stops at a bus station. A train stops at a train station. On my desk, I have a work station.

Curing paint in the oven? That's a shure fire way to get in the doghouse with the little woman!
Mine would be like, "NO SEX FOR YOU"! "COME BACK ONE YEAR"!  :l2:

Looks slick though!  :worthy1:
