SS rectifier with parallel caps

Hello all,

Been looking into ss rectifiers and found the topology attached in one of master blencowe's book,

I'm wondering why doesn't (or does?) the caps short circuit the PT secondary as shown in the poorly drawn schematic?

Wisdom will be well appreciated

they "bypass" or "filter out" transient spikes from the diodes.   when SS switches state, the electrons get overly excited n tend to overshoot their mark

Capacitors have reactance, ie, resistance to AC voltage. For example, a .01µF cap has a resistance of 265KΩ at 60Hz. Or a .047µF cap has a resistance of 56K at 60Hz. Making sense yet?
