Fender 6G15 Reverb Cabinet Back Panel Thickness
« on: November 21, 2025, 03:16:04 pm »
Hello,

Was the back panel of the Fender 6G15 reverb unit 1/4" or 1/2" in thickness?  The following picture looks like 1/2" to me:

I use 1/4" (6mm) Baltic Birch for this purpose, though any good quality plywood is fine.   The Tolex or tweed adds a lot of thickness and provides additional damping.

The back plate does provide lateral stiffness, but it does not need to be thick for this purpose.
