Hey guys, my name's Morgan, I use the handle Jesus Freak on the two other forums im on, so I keep it the same for simplicity and if any of the other people on other forums are looking for me, lol.
Ive been a mechanic since childhood and have always messed with stuff, mechanical, electrical, just anything.....
Im 45 this year, been playing guitar since I was a teen, bought a AVT50 20+yrs ago and was always satisfied with it until about 2yrs ago when I bought a non-working Crate vintage club 50H and cabinets off Craigslist for $150.......I got it working(cold solder joints on the tubes and fried OT).....and i was hooked.....where had tube amps been my whole life? Lol, well, they were just out of reach financially......
I liked the Crate, but it was too big and ultimately wasn't my sound....it didn't scream Marshall, if that makes sence....
So, to shorten it up a bit, I traded the Crate off and got a Triode 2204 clone about a year ago.....it was really poorly put together and incorrectly put together on the turret board....with bad solder joints on the tube sockets and liquid electrical tape everywhere.....ive rebuilt it in a peavey 212 combo and it sounds great! Im crazy happy with it! I bumped into this forum looking for info on adding a reverb tank to it and have joined to get a bit of info on that......other than that I don't bring much to the table......im not great with schematics, but I can follow a diagram well and I am diligently attempting to grasp schematics and how these things actually work.
Uncle Doug's videos have been incredibly helpful.....I just about understand tone stacks and phase inverters.........as much as anyone can actually understand such things......Anyway, glad to be here, I have posted on the "1 tube reverb" thread.......thanks for having me!
P.S. this particular build is my 1.0, as soon as I have it basically exactly like I want it my plan is to rebuild it again with a small parts kit in a different combo box a bit more custom to my liking. I know it's a bit messy, but when 2.0 happens and I have it tweaked to my liking it'll get cleaned up then. As is it was reverse engineering another guy's mess......no hum, crystal clear.......beautiful......totally Marshall......just want some built in reverb.
