  • I love Tube amps
I think I have repaired the above which was had terrible overall hum and noise on both channels, it might have been it drive push switch, which I cleaned with contact cleaner and I also tightened the heatsink screws. The filter caps and rectifier diodes tested and are within spec.
The clean channel is quiet when turned up full, but the drive channel is unacceptably noisy with the gain and drive volume up full, is this normal, after all it is a cheap SS amp?
I think the clean channel sounds surprisingly good, but the drive channel sounds nasty to my ears.
Has anybody had any experience with this model of amplifier and who could tell me if the high gain channel is always inherently very noisy?
