Howdy boys
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry I haven't been here in a while.
I have been writing a new piece of Perl software that pulls the shopping cart orders directly into Quickbooks from the web server using the Quickbooks Software developement kit.
It's all done now and working great.
The number of orders coming in makes it neccessary to get faster and more efficient at everything I do.
Being that busy prevents me from dropping in here. I know Ken and the others are helping people with their questions and I thank them for this.
See you all later, back to work.

Doug,
If you ever head out to Black Mountain, my wife and I would like to take you and yours to dinner. If you like good German food there is a great rest. here. Let me know.
Thanks for the great service.

I can make it!

I'm in Weaverville and love free German food! I can make it to Black Mountain anytime you are ready. Kidding of course, but I've often wondered if I was Doug's only local customer. Glad to know that I'm not.
Welcome back Doug....as you said, we've been in very capable hands!

just wanted to grab the chance to thank you Doug, for running this site. I only found it recently and the folks here have helped me sort out the final problems with an old broken SF Bassman.
Once I have made some money with my music I'd like to try out some of your products.
I guess i have been bitten by this tube bug, so i'll stick around.
all the best from England, from another Hoffman(n)
cheers neal
(will be in Germany on Monday, and I'll have a drink on you guys-i'm actually taking this bassman to a recording session!!)

There ain't nothin' like a little computer automation to make things run smoother and more efficiently, is there? When I ran my own business I hated sitting down and doing the books. Always ended up with an evening, saturday or sunday lost to it. No doubt you still have some of that.

Doug,
No snow last week but boy was it windy.By the way, if I put my EIN on the next order will that be enough for you so that I don't get charged sales tax?

Lucid,
I use quickbooks so bookkeeping is done as I do business during the day.
I import all of the shopping cart orders directly into quickbooks from the web server. I do not hand punch any orders or have to look up prices, etc. It is very fast and efficient.
This is why I don't accept email orders or anything other than an order that was created and finalized on my shopping cart.
The only other bookeeping I have to do is entering the purchases from vendors, reconciling the bank statement once a month and paying the collected sales tax to the NC dept of revenue every 3 months.
I hand everything over to an accountant for the year end, bend over here's your income tax bill.
----------------------------------------------------------
Anyone that has an official NC tax resale number can mail me a copy to keep on file and I will take care of the sales tax situation. It must be a copy of the certificate, not just the number sent by email.
