PT Rectifier and Speaker Qs
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would be grateful for any help on the following matters :
1) Can an 5f6a PT and 2/4/8 tap OT also be used in 5E7 or 5E8 circuits ? Some PTs on offer seem to be suitable for a variety of tweed circuits. Didn't know whether they had multiple HV secondaries, or several circuits all have the same HV requirements.
2)Are there any links available which explain the transformer voltage & current specs used in different tweed circuits ?
3)Some original circuits seem to use a selenium rectifier. what is it for, and is there a modern alternative ? Can't see any reference to them on the hoffman schematics.
4)Out of curiosity, is there any consensus on Jensen reissues versus Weber equivalents ? I am thinking of using either 4x P10R or 2 x P12N with a 35/45w tweed circuit.
Thanks. Much appreciated.
Hurricane.

It will suite other amp with two 6L6 ore 5881 power tubes. Although the Bandmaster and the Twin had a different speaker set up as the Bassman. As long as you hook up the correct speaker load to the correct tap it's ok.

Look in Doug's Library of Information, there you find a transformer chart.

The selenium rectifier was used in the bias circuit, there was no other diode available at the time. Use a silcium diode, they are much more reliable then the old ones.

on your speaker question:
The weber speakers tend to sound more like the real thing. although the jensen re-issues say jensen that's where the similarity stops. I also hear that the kendrick blackframes sound great!! the cool thing about weber is they'll do just about anything, if you want JBL's with ribbed celestion cones etc.. they also have a new magnet structure that uses both alnico and ceramic elements (sweet Tone and efficent......whoodathunk??) just my 2 cents, take it for whatever it's worth.
