Chassis dimensions
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
does any have the exact dimensions for the slant front Fender Bassman (60's) chassis? I am looking to have one custom made and want to be sure about the width/height/length etc.
Thx.

If you are having one made at a shop it would be best if they have the actual item to take measurements from. You can always sell it afterwards.

I wish I had an original to use but I don't know anyone with one of these great heads... I am building one from scratch and want to put it into a fender style head so hence the need for the chassis outside dimensions. I have a Fender twin and know the front face angle (standard on Fenders) but not the length, width, height.
Cheers: Francis.

Francis,
I have a Bassman Ten chassis on the shelf in my shop that I am converting into a Bassman 100. Would you like the measurements on that one?

Hmmm, why do I almost feel like this one is directed at me personally?
20 3/16 W x 1 3/4 H x 7/8 deep
Front angle is 30 degrees from vertical. There is about a 1/4-3/8 lip around the top to keep it from digging into the cabinet when the support screws are tightened down. It uses the 5 inch spacing top strap that Doug sells.
This is from my 1962 6G6. I believe that all Bassman 50 and 70 heads use these same dimensions.
Since the setup to make one chassis is the hardest part, maybe you would come out ahead to make all you can get out of one sheet of 18 Ga steel and sell what you don't need.
It might not be that much more to make several and you might end up ahead.
Happy fabbing!

Can you double check that depth dimension? 7/8" sounds a bit low :LOL !!!

you'd be surprised how much you can fit in 7/8" of an inch...i've got a marshall major clone inside of 9/16" on my latest build.
