If I'm not around for the next few days...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
... it's because my F*!#ing hard drive decided to crap out on me. I should have been more suspicious of it last month when my bookmark file got corrupted. Anyway today it's loosing files left and right.
I can still get online (like I am now) using my old PC, but it's a Pentium 133 non-MMX with 80MB RAM so it's painfully slow.
Happy Easter

I'm getting back alive tonight. I bought a new hard drive--80GB--twice the size of my old one. After I send in a rebate, the final cost will be $50. 60 cents a gigabyte seemed failry painless.
It's taken about 4 hours to install XP and then re-fetch all the Windows updates and service packs that have been released since my original Windows CD was pressed.
I got my bookmarks, but I'm hoping I can salvage my email inbox, some photos, mp3s, and tube amp stuff off the old drive.
Glad I had my taxes done already!

Ken,
with as much as I have learned from you, I would have sent you a hard drive to get you back on the forum. My motto is upgrade about every 1 1/2 to 2 years and dump old hard drives each time and at the first sign of HD glitches abandon ship.

You could also run with a dual hard drive set up, where the second isolated hard drive serves as a mirror image of the first one. That way when one goes bad, you don't lose information.
