Paypal
« on: December 10, 2008, 04:21:09 pm »
Anybody had any trouble with them?

I made a purchase from a place that supplies LOTS of stomp box stuff.
Their name rhymes with "tall hare".

The seller claims no payment.
Paypal and my CC show payment was made.

Seller is claiming they want to see the email conformation from Paypal and then they will send the items.
I don't have the email.

Is it me, or does it seem odd?
If you were a  seller, would you send something based on an email conformation even if you are claiming you didn't receive payment from Paypal?

On the other hand, there are lots of horror stories about Paypal.

Man, if it is the seller, this is going to be the second time I've been screwed.
First time was by a BBQ company.

Your account will have the record of payment.  Log in and check there.

I would think that paypal can verify that for you.
Isn't there some sort of buyer protection with paypal?

Did you pay from a credit card through PayPal or from your bank?

Using a credit card is immediate, while paying from your bank account (which PayPal wants you to do) takes days.

Sorry to hear that - "tall hare" has always been a stand up guy when I've done business with him.  I'd check with PayPal - I bought a Les Paul Jr. from a guy on the 11th and confirmation from my CC company just showed up today the 15th.  What the hell - call him up . . . he don't bite  ;D

>>call him up
Why? a purchase is a purchase

Update.
The product did finally arrive.
I had some really weird email from the vendor before hand.
It shipped the day after I put in a dispute with my CC company.
Paypal was on the up and up.
Very odd.
I too haven't ever had a problem with that vendor either.
Oh well.

Paypal is not a bank nor Western Union. They hold electronic transactions for days for no logical reason but I suppose that there is maybe some way to for am electronic transfer to get rescinded for a few days after it is sent that I am not aware of. I personally think they charge too much and should be a free service of Ebay. But they are not and they haven't asked me for my opinion..lol Anyway, they do some strange things and to deal with them, you have to learn their ways. And if there is a problem, email them. They do answer back fairly quickly. So far, they have only cost me a $3 bag of guitar screws a vendor didn't include in my order but insisted she did. She is no longer a vendor though. And she had thousands of sales. So they do eventually sort out the mess...One amp deal to France USPS mailed ground when I paid for air has taken a year to get straightened out...but the customer and I are both happy!
Not observing amp safety can kill you!

So far so good on my Paypal experiences (knock on side of head...).  However, I do use a CC service for my business.  CC companies are the goofiest entities in the banking biz.  I have spent hours on the phone with my service and CC companies trying to sort out what basically amounts to them posting payment, and then holding payment for any and all excuses/services/pay period/documentation/moon phases/I have gas today - you would not believe the crap I have heard.  Meanwhile my clients are pissed at me because all they have is verification from their CC company that I have been paid.  Sound familiar?  I'm convinced they are all azzhats and everyone but them is getting royally screwed.

What do you mean OWN sounds like OWNS

On October 3, 2002, PayPal became a wholly owned subsidiary of eBay.[2] Its corporate headquarters are in San Jose, California, United States at eBay's North First Street satellite office campus. The company also has significant operations in Omaha, Nebraska; Scottsdale, Arizona; and Austin, Texas in the U.S.; India; Dublin, Ireland; and Berlin, Germany, and now also in Tel-Aviv, Israel after PayPal acquired an Israeli startup called FraudSciences for $169 million.[3] As of July 2007, across Europe, PayPal also operates as a Luxembourg-based bank.
