What does a Groundhog look like?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the morbidly curious, here's a couple pictures of me.
My wife made me crop her out of this one:

Here's a photo of me building my first tube amp:
home.rochester.rr.com/gro...K_amp.html
It was an SS Dean Markley that a music store was going to put in the dumpster. I turned it into an AB763 with cathode biased 6v6s and presence. I built it on segments Keystone generic turret board because I hadn't yet heard of Hoffman Amps and the idea of doing a proper custom layout never occured to me.
Check out the sunburn on my neck. It's 4 degrees here right now--hard to believe we ever get sunshine.

This is Mrs. Groundhog saying Groundhogs are cute!!! Mr. Groundhog, in particular!
Hope Mr. Groundhog doesn't get annoyed at me now.....I might have to make it up to him by giving him extra amp time in the basement. Sigh..... It's bad enough when he emerges from his 'amp shop' every February and claims he sees his shadow. Six more weeks of amp time, indeed! Seems fishy to me....
Regards,
Mrs. Groundhog (Amp Widow)

Is that your wife behind you, she looks cute. Did she lose her sheep?
(Sorry couldn't resist)
Those sure are some tall looking heater wires in that amp......I would hate to show you my first amp. There is a family of birds living in it now.
It is always nice to put a face with the name.......
Here is one of me,it is a little dated. We were playing a restaurant in Tampa.....I am in the blue tiedye.

Ground Hog , hardly a fair handle for such an unassuming but good looking guy. I was expecting someone with lots of hair and whiskers and a bit of heft for lasting through a long winter. I can only imagine "Ground hog" must have been one of those terms of endearment from a wife who misses the guy who spends too much time "burrowing into the basement". I'm always wondering what Tiny Daddy looks like? Is he six foot six and 260 lbs? like "little John"? When my son was three he used to call my size 12 feet "little feet" so i had to call his giant feet. Well he grew into them ( now size 13)... been away from the board for a while. Winged Vampire is conspicuosly absent, I pictured him with dreads and some recycled Artist formerly known as Prince threads? or perhaps a more Goth look.... but the Vampire was a Baltimore Oriole!!!???? Ground Hog, I was impressed with your taste in music... from the equipment- influences... also all your info about Hammond organs. I always liked Procal Harem and especially Robin Trower, Jimi Hendrix... very impressive first amp. My first amp was in 1966? I found it in the basement-looked at it recently. It was pretty neat, and ignorantly overcautious....when I remember the pains I went thru to cut the resistor leads to exactly the specified length!!! geoff

Ken! you don't have that wild-eyed look of a self absorbed keyboard player that I thought you would!!! HAR! And Harry looks like Jimmy Buffet! I was expecting big hair and stacks of HS amps on the back line!
I could dig through some old pics from the 70's when I had hair halfway down my back (it is now high and tight - I swore that would never happen!), but I have no way to post them. Plus, I get enough abuse at home....
I know we could never pull it off with work, kids, WIVES, home locations, etc. - but wouldn't it be cool if we could pick a city and do a Hoffman Board Meet? Oh, the stories to be told!

Ok, so I didn't get asked to the prom. Probably the squirell scared her away.
Here's a recent outing with a freind of mine.

OK Doug, I can't tell if you look more like Lance Armstrong, Ted Nugent (recent chainsaw accident), or one of the guys from Slipknot (first photo)!

I'd prefer the Lance deal.
Ok, here's Lance playing a guitar instead of riding a bike.

It's funny how you brain creates a mental picture of someone
you communicate with on the net and it's usually always
wrong. I had seen pictures of Doug from his pictures on this
site. Doug where did that squirrel come from, is his plumbing real or is that a computer enhancement, or is my old eyes failing me? Are you in to not only modding amps but other things too?? Good to see you guys for the first time!!! Shall we vote on pettiest and ugliest now?? This was suppose to be about Ken and not us, Sorry Ken. Kool Pictures!

Sorry, Ken started it all.
Just thought this would be a good thread like the influences thread.
Actually the chainsaw picture is just a couple months ago.
The guitar picture is a bout 10 years ago so I cheated.
The squirrel's plumbing is for real. Someone sent me the pic.

The pictures of me are scanned photographs. I think the one of me sitting on the couch is less than a year old, and it was taken at my brother's house.
The one of me looking at the amp is from 2000 or 2001. It was taken in my basement, however, my workbench has since been moved to a different spot and the area in the photo has since been dolled up so my older daughter can use it as a playroom.
Those photos were both taken in the summer and I tend to weight about 15 lbs more after the holidays than I do in July. Overall, my appearance hasn't changed much in about 10 years, but I'll be 40 on Monday, so I don't expect to ever look much better. I hope to get wiser, though.
JohnT from this board has seen me in person, so if he reads this thread, he can tell you if the photos are an accurate representation.
As I get better at this web stuff I'll post more pictures of gear and stuff and maybe some schematics of mods or circuit ideas. I've never attempted a soundfile, so I'll try doing that sometime in my forties.
