..... and of course now I can't find it.  Somewhere, presumably a safe place there are 2 - 2 gang 100K audio pots and 1 - 4 gang 100K audio pot.  I'd kinda like to have them right about now.  Who else does this?   :-X

With most things, I'm AWFUL about organization.  Tools and electronic components, however, are my one exception.  I know exactly where every tool on my bench belongs, and if something is out of place I notice it instantly - and it drives nuts (not a long trip, I'm afraid).  Components are similarly organized.  I don't know why I'm so organized on those particular things, as in most things my preference is a comfortable clutter.  I think it probably has something to do with the fact that I make my living with my tools, and it's way more profitable if I'm not constantly looking for things.

With my camping gear, I'm right there with you, though.

My problem: I know where everything is... Until my wife moves it.

I know and when you ask them where something is you get that dirty look

I was in my garage with a friend and we were going to drill a hole into something he was working on.

I had the part set up in the drill press and was looking for a center punch now my work table was a mess.

He walked over and picked it right up he said he uses the same filling system as I do  ;D

Does anyone else think Guitar picks go to some other dimension and you just can't find them because of that? I must have bought 1000's and at current I'd be hard pressed to find 10....

I pulled the agitator on my washing machine and found about 20 picks under there.

I still haven't found those pots.  It's like being in high school and losing my pot.  I wonder if my mom found them?   :D

Have you heard anyone say;

And when I finally find it, it will be the last place I look.

Of course it will, who would continue looking?

 ;D ;D ;D

When I was younger, like 30 years ago, I played about 5-7 Hours a day, trying to get out all my frustration I guess, but I always lost picks, and usually found one after looking everywhere. (The last place I looked too, oddly enough) I actually went and bought a gross of picks, 144 of them, and opened the bag when I got home, and went through the house throwing them everywhere! That increased my ods of finding one right away, and I wasn't so frustrated, about looking for picks anyway.

I used to tell my wife, years later, that I viewed her house cleaning as "Hiding my Sh*T". Well, I no longer have that problem, and I still get so fumed every time I work on something, because I can't find some tool or part, and I am also much neater with my tools and parts than the rest of the house. That does come from better profit, and less chance of going berserk and killing everyone I see from wasting 4 hours looking for a tiny part. That can be soooooooooo frustrating!

And Buttery, I too have things hidden everywhere for safe keeping, in fact that is how I schedule my projects, I does em as I finds em.  ::) When I was young, you could gauge the quality of my pot by the length of roaches I found where I had lost them. I smoked till I could not find the J any more, LOL

When I was young, you could gauge the quality of my pot by the length of roaches I found where I had lost them. I smoked till I could not find the J any more, LOL Wonder if that has anything to do with my forgetting where I put things now. Anyway, then I took, .... hey, what was I talking about? No, I'll remember, gimme a minute. ....... Oh, yeah, I'm like that farm agent from Green acres these days, so if you'll show me where I put the potting soil, I'll plant this years crop, while I smoke this .... wait, I had it right here, now where the hell did that go? Damn! I hate it when that happens,

So I took the chassis out, and replaced the Power Resistor with double the value, and .... Hey, there's a big roach, ... hang on, let me,  wait, where is my lighter? oh, in my hand, ok, I'll take a hit or two to take the edge off, ... ahhh, now back to that amp, make sure I drained the caps, (CRACK), OH Damn, forgot to turn it off and unplug it, .... oops, anyway, I fixed that, replaced the fuse, and, no, there is the new fuse, and this is the old one, right? I'll just test em. Get the meter, and, crap left it on all night, gotta replace the battery now, (zing) a nice tasty fresh 9v, ... now where is that little screw driver? Oh, in my hand, no, that's a lighter, what the hell is that doing in there? The darn screwdriver was in the fridge! Guess I laid it there when I made my last glass of tea, dang my mouth is dry, I'll get another. Ahhhh, good tea! Now back to work, where was I? Oh yeah, got the battery, the screw driver, and all set. Popped that battery in, cool now the meter works again. Now what was I going to do with it? guess I'll remember later, (go sit and watch tv a while).

Oh, yeah, that reminds me, I left that roach in the shop, I'll go get it, and have a bit while I watch this, then right back to work. (walk to shop), ok, I'll get that darn fuse replaced. I want to get this thing going before dinner. Oh, wait, which fuse was it that blew? I can't see the damn hair wire at all in either of them, so I better test them. Hey, I remember now, I put a new battery in the meter to test these! Ok, glad I got my senses back, now I .... hmmmm .... that sure is a big roach! must be some good sh*t, I used to be able to tell how good the pot was by the length of roaches I lost. (Chuckle) Ok, fuse goes in here, and bingo! turn it on, oh crap, must have put the wrong fuse back in. dang, I cant remember crap any more, wonder if all that pot I smoked when I was young had anything to do with that? I guess both these fuses are bad, damn suppliers, sending me crap fuses. .... Oh, (chuckle), forgot to plug it back in. ok, there, got it now, now what was the complaint with this amp, before I blew the fuse and burned the B+ speck on the chassis, oh yeah, I wrote it down, now where did I put that paper? wait, I was going to watch SouthPark first, why am I here working, how did I get back here? Bet I got caught in some time warp or something. Darn old age is sure tough on the memory eh? (Walk back in living room) There, Southpark isn't over yes so no harm done. I'll just take a little toke, wait where is my lighter? Crap, bet I left it in the shop, (Back to shop, passing through kitchen), hmmm, that looks good, I'll get a piece of pie. (Back to livingroom) Great Pie, probably the best I've ever made, you know I make my pudding for the filling from scratch,

I use flour sugar, milk, egg yolks, and, uhhhh, oh, vanilla, then I drop a hunk of butter on it and stir that in right before filling the shell, than I slice that bananas on top, and push them down, because I forgot to put it in first. anyway, that is the best pie, some milk would be good, (back to kitchen).

Well, guess I better get that amp finished. I was, hey there is a full glass of tea, when did I fix that? hmmm, oh well, I was looking for the paper I wrote the customer complaint on, it has to be somewhere near the amp, I know me, that is where I'd put it. There it is, no, that is the schematic to the one I am building over here, maybe I better check it out.  HaHa, I was going to get a glass of milk, better get that, then I'll get back to this build. (Back in kitchen), now, .... hmmm what did I come in here for? Is that Southpark I hear, I was watching that. Think I'll get some milk and finish the show. (Open fridge). Now what the heck is that roach doing in there where the screwdriver goes, HaHa, that isn't where the screwdriver goes, but that is where I found it, can you believe it? Old age is sure tough on ones memory! what the hell are all these guitar picks everywhere for? Guess I could pick up a few of them for later, after I light this roach.

Anyone else ever do this?

You could all check it out though, Took me a long time to type it all, Long story, but I got a lot of work done. fixed my meter, and worked on a build a minute, and also nearly fixed a customer amp, in the story I mean,. .. wait I'll get a link to it, BRB,

HaHa, Dyna, I used to buy a whole bunch of picks, and throw them all over the house so I could find one easier, that works pretty good for me. Hadn't thought of that for years, but your post reminded me of it, I guess. Glad I don't have those bad memory issues now days though. Haven't smoked pot in a while now, wonder if that had anything to do with it?

Later bro,

Jim

Anyone ever go in the kitchen and forget what you went in there for? I call that thinking about the hereafter, I walk in the kitchen and think about what i'm here after!  ;D ;D

What a coincidence, They just advertised a "Buzz Ballads" CD, Music to get stoned by I think. That reminds me, Guess I'll go look in the fridge and get that roach out and fire it up, then I'll probably feel like getting back to that customer amp, took a break to watch SouthPark. Had a great piece of pie too, you know, I make it from scratch.

I'll post the recipe some day if I can find it, I am trying to find a paper where I wrote info about a customer amp right now.

Buttery, I also do that, I just do the projects as I find the stuff for them. If I can't find it, must mean I should do it later. Guess you might say I schedule my projects that way.

I am thankful I still have all my faculties for the most part.

I don't know - I buy them by the gross, so it's not really an issue for me very often.  144 picks lasts me about a decade, and I usually just keep a handful in my pocket.  (Fender Extra Heavies, so they don't wear out or break very often).

Been doing that for some time. In fact, I've wandered into this thread three times now, and just finally remembered I wanted to post in it!  ;D
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

We've got a door in the shop like that.  The door from the front room to the back room wipes people's memories.  You go through it, and you KNOW you had a reason, but damned if you can remember.
