The Factory
« on: March 27, 2009, 11:52:10 am »
I Have been messing around with all the cool Synth sounds in Mixcraft 4.5
This tune is all synths, no guitars or drums at all.
If you want a mental vision as you listen, picture this.
The tune is about an industrial Factory.
It starts with the whistle blowing, all the machines fire up and start making a bunch of weird noises, as machines do.
This tune may kill small computer speakers. It has a big sub bass element going on.
I highly recommend listening with headphones and a sub woofer.

You can play it here

PS. This tune does not do well with wimpy computer speakers. Lots of bass going on

Pretty cool soundscape there Doug. You gonna do Movie soundtracks? :D Kinda sounds like something John Carpenter would write.. Pretty neat (how you inputing the keyboard, usb keyboard or onscreen mouse keyboard or just writing in the notes and values?).

Regards,

I am adding the notes by hand with a mouse which is a pain.

I ordered this midi controller keyboard the other day.

Should make it way easier.
It's small so I can get it off my desk when not in use.

Really getting to like playing with the Moog and other virtual instruments in mixcraft 4

I need a sequel where the machines grab the man and do a good flycut on him.  :)

Whoa!!  That's one cool tune, man!  I really, really like that a lot.  Sounds like something Rob Zombie and Danny Elfman would collaborate on.  In fact, send this to Tim Burton right away!  I'm downloading it now to add to my 'Favorites' playlist.

Still diggin' this.  I use my Droid as my mp3 player in the car and I've been listening to this tune on the way to work all week.  This should have been the theme to the Tom Cruise version of "War of the Worlds"... or maybe even "The Matrix" when Neo finally sees the world as it is.  Perfect alien-machine-bent-on-world-domination-apocalypse sort of theme song.

Now where did I put that oil can?

Wow, cool tune Doug.
Has many of the elements of weirdness that I like.
I am so shocked that the violin (?) that comes in at 4:10 wasn't a guitar.....an ebow
Or........a guitar layered on top of that tone?
Really neat stuff!
Peace

Thanks guys

I just had another listen also and it is a really cool tune.

Wish I cold come up with stuff like that all the time.

Not sure how that creative/composing frame of mind hapeens or how it comes and goes, but it usually starts with me hearing a sound or a beat and then something takes over.

ACK!   :embarrassed:  I need to either wait for the player to stop playing, or play the downloaded version if I'm going to comment and listen at the same time.

Anyway, That is definitely an interesting track Doug. I like the vibe of it. Just curious but have you tried to play the geetar using it as a backing track? (I'm not asking if you thought it was good or bad, if you did try.)

No, I wanted to play with just synths on this tune.

No bass guitar or drums either
