Guitarist and bass player for The Ventures.

So long Bob.  I loved your guitar playing on Walk Don't Run.
I will be swift.  And merciful.

Saw Ventures Live in LA in the 80's with Mel. Bob was on bass. Great band, and great show!

Man....what a loss.      He's truly one of my greatest influences.  I slowed down so many ventures records over the years to steal those licks and then bass lines from the later records....

Yep! So long Bob! They taught me how to play by repeating those licks over and over by moving the needle of the record player arm back over and over each part (classic rewind)of a song until I had it all figured out. By the time I learned the song the record would be damaged and the needle skipping. Listening and copying their music occupied a lot of my time in 1963 thru 1965 playing a Airline Guitar through a Silvertone 1482 amp. Being raised in a rural Louisiana Sawmill town, the Ventures seemed a million miles away but boy they sure bolstered my spirit for guitar and were the ones that made me want to play. Plate

My Dad belonged to the RCA record club way back then.
He had a ton of Vinyl Lp's.

We had a nice strereo tube amp console that sounded really good

On Sunday mornings, he would get up way before the rest of the family.
He would go downstairs and put on Ventures records at a very high volume to get us all out of bed.

That's how I woke up many a Sunday morning.
The Ventures ripping away on a classic tube amp console.
