Is that a Blue Indigo snake?  I grew up in S. Tx and killing rattlers was a fairly common occurrence.  I was always told not to kill Blue Indigos because they eat rattlers.

That doesn't look like an indigo to me. I think it is a black snake. I've spent a little time down in the Rio Grande valley area ........ where in S.Tx were you hanging out?

Black snacks are constrictors like king snakes are. It's amazing to me that the constrictors eat rattlers but I'm glad they do.

yeah, that looks like the black snakes we have here in the mountains
I have seen some really big black snakes here.
real long, but not real fat

The rattlers we have here are Timber rattlers and there are lots of them.
They look way different than Eastern diamond back rattlers.
They come in two color variations also, a cream color and a black color

really pretty snakes, especially the cream colored ones.

That's a big black snake.  I've only seen skinny ones here.   They like my pool.

This is a great opportunity to link to Atomic Roster doing Black Snake.

Check out the singer at :20 seconds in.  On a scale of 1 to 10, exactly how high is he?

Q.  What's the difference between a dead snake in the middle of the road and a dead trombone player in the middle of the road?

A.  Snake was on his way to a gig.

Oh no, not trombone and trumpet player jokes again.

What is perfect pitch?

It's when you toss a trumpet into a dumpster without hitting the rim..........

We once played a New Years gig and had a trumpet and trombone section for the night , the club owner really liked us and asked if we would be willing to come back the next year.....the horn guys both asked at the same time ....Can we eave our horns here....
