Anyone have a recipe for flattening a warped pickguard for a strat?

You can TRY flattening it between a couple of flat plates (big coffee table books and the like) with a bunch of weight, but it probably won't work. 

This is on the guitar?  Because usually the pickguard screws do a pretty good job of holding them down.

But in all likelihood you will either have to live with it or buy a new pickguard - it almost never works to flatten them.  Do NOT try any method involving heat - if it's warping it's celluloid, and celluloid likes to go BOOM!

Har! I recall back in my wild days back in the 70's forgetting about my 65 strat in the trunk of my car in
August summer heat after a Saturday nite gig. Latter in the week when I finally come to myself, got to missing my strat and traced it back to the trunk of my car the guitar in general was Ok but the pickguard was cracked. I had to install a new pickguard. Latter in the 90's  when I sold that guitar as a vintage strat that move cost me on the price paid---it I had saved the old pick guard it would have been worth more but I chunked it when I got the new one.  The pickguard in the picture is from a 70's anniversery strat and has some shading aroung the edges.

The guitar belongs to a kid whose Dad I do some work for and they don't have much money. I'm just trying to help him out by fixing up his axe (Austin-Strat). The pickguard is a little different than a strat pickguard and I can't find a match on ebay.

Gee, if it's an Austin Strat why not try ironing it with a cloth/rag between the back of the pick guard and the iron.

Yeah I was thinking along the same line. I may try it since I have nothing to lose.
