  Forming Caps?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi

Got a question regarding forming new caps in a export model. First off it is a SFTR 135W export version running at 240V.

Can i form the caps by slowly increasing the voltage on the voltage selector switch.

Voltage selector switch options: 100, 12, 127, 220, 240 and 260.

Or should i do the ght bulb limiter way?

Lastly how long should i do this?

Many thanks
AJ

Just trough the switch and enjoy your amp, voltage selector in the adequate position for your wall outlet voltage!

Don't plug the amp in a outlet with 240V and the voltage selector in a lower rang!

I did that once accidentally with a ark welder and got fire work trough my workshop's electric installation, out the house, up the power line into the next transformer... the block was without light for the next 2 hours and 6 month later the transformer blew up definitely. Have to admit I bridged the brakes as they were underrated...   .

Fortunately the power company never found out that I was the  Mr. Newton junior...

If they're new caps, just solder them in, check your work and power up.

Don't forget to do the small electrolytic cathode bypass caps and the bias supply caps--not just the big power supply caps.

It does pay to change a few at a time and then check that everything still works. That way if you make a mistake somewhere you don't have to retrace the entire job.
