Queen of Spades - Indian flavored tune
« on: December 15, 2009, 06:48:54 pm »
I have been working on this tune by Dan Morrissey called Queen of Spades
It has an Indian vibe to to it.
According to the original composer, it's more of a music soundtrack type piece.
I have altered the original tune quite a bit in my own warped way.

The HeavyCaster makes an appearance at the end of the tune.

This is Mix #1

I can taste the curry   :toothy5:  The production is sparse, but it has a big sound.  Good job!

Hahaha, curry rules!

Thanks Craig

The more I listen to it, the more I hear things I want to change in mix #2

Awesome.  Gorgeous guitar sound; nice drums; nice tabla; nice tune.  Really gives a clear vibe.

Great synth pad too.

How'd you do the buzzes?

Hey thanks Tim,
You mean the Tanpura?
I use Riyaz studio, which plays real tabla and tanpura wav files at different tempos and keys.
I record sections of it and then snip up the sections into loops.

Riyaz studio sounds real good.

Purchased it several months ago and have used it on a few recordings.

Don't really hang out there, I just post my tunes there and get feedback on them.

Definitely got the soundtrack vibe to it.  Very nice.  About three quarters of the way through you do some harmony with a couple of guitars or a guitar and a synth that I really like.

I think its a good mix.  I wouldn't add anything, in fact I'd might put in a hole or two in the next mix.
