Broken boss TU-2
« on: January 05, 2010, 10:53:37 am »
My boss TU-2 tuning pedal just stopped working. Basically, the check light stays on and the pedal has no functionality. The pedal passes signal from in to out like it should, but the tuner wont come on. The momentary switch works just fine. Im not sure if it is something in he flip flop circuit, or if the cpu in the tuner is messed up. I tried pulling up the schematic for other boss pedals in order to identify the switching circuit. Most of the 7 wires going from the main board to the tuner board have some sort of voltage on them. I would be happy even bypassing the switching circuit and having it on all the time, Im just not sure how it works and can't find a schematic. Has this happened to anyone? I would love to save this thing.

The only time  have seen that on a TU-2 was when the battery was close to dead...

edit: well i feel like an idiot. I was using a 9v AC voltage adaptor instead of DC. Anyway, Now there is no check light or anything. The thing was broken before I used the wrong adaptor. There is no sign of burnt traces or diodes.

actually, now it doesn't work at all, not even the buffer. its weird how an AC supply made the pedal's buffer circuit work. Oh well, I think the CPU is gone.
