CTS pots and Toyota
« on: January 29, 2010, 08:09:20 am »
On a guitar related mailing list:

"....recommended CTS pots, long a standard "quality" part in amps as well as guitars.  They happen to be manufactured by the same company that built the accelerator control units that have caused a huge widespread recall and production stop of Toyota cars, as they investigate whether they are the cause of a pattern of unintended acceleration accidents. Of course, on a guitar, who couldn't use a little extra acceleration?  :-) "

"Toyota said in certain rare cases, the gas pedal mechanism wears down, causing the accelerator to become harder to press, slower to return or, in some cases, stuck."

Leave the amp on 10 - no chance to wear down and cause a crash.

You're on 10 here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on 10 on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?

Nowhere. Exactly.

Lucky for that company that they only built the gas pedals, and didn't design them
I'll never figure this out......
