Boss CE-2 Power issue

Just wanna get your guys's input before I tackle this.  Pretty sure I know what's goin on but wanna make sure as I haven't messed with too many pedals before.

I gotta Boss CE-2 Chorus....  When you run it off battery the LED comes on and all is fine.  When you remove the Battery and run it off a power adapter the effect will work but the LED won't come on.

In messing with it, I found that if you short the ground lug from the DC plug to the chasis the LED comes on.

Thoughts on what's goin on?

Busted wire on the power socket.

No dice.  I can short points 3 and 4 together and it works.  And i can short from point 3 across the diode to R53 and it works so I'm gonna try a new diode tomorrow.  The value of R54 on the schematic didn't match the one in the pedal.  So I put a 100 in the pedal so it'd match the Schematic and still no dice.  Seems as if you take the diode out of the equation all works fine.
