My version of a 5 watt.
« on: April 10, 2010, 05:53:49 pm »
Always wanted a 5 watt with a 12" speaker and bigger cab. Gets a nice ac/dc crunch around 6 on the dial. The sweet spot for me.

I LOVE small SE amps.

those simple, direct, layouts with minimal parts count and a high enough B+ to allow a bit of OD sounds so good.

Your layout is VERY clean and your construction looks first rate!

I bet it does sound great!

I've always shyed away from a 12, I really don't know why either. That Greeb Back should give a nice almost unexpected volume to that combo.

My mind is aglow with whirling, transient nodes of thought careening through a cosmic vapor of invention (H. Lamarr)

I think that there is a small mistake in the circuit diagram.
The output transformer cannot be connected like you draw.
And the 4 - 8 ohm connections should be altered.

Thanks man. I got 370Vdc on the EL84 plate with this one. Sounds pretty darn good. I tried bringing the voltage down but it just lost it's mojo when I did that. I never really cared for an 8" speaker. They just compress more when pushed to my ears. Guess I don't like to much speaker break up. The green back definitely keeps it open and loud for 5 watts. Roll back the guitar volume and it's a nice clean. It's a cool rock amp.
