Bugera madness
« on: April 17, 2010, 11:27:09 am »
Bugera 333XL, made in China, started smoking. Reason is, there are six (count 'em, 6) thermistor surge limiters in series on a small circuit board. One came loose and the arcing started, damaging a small place on the circuit board. Problem is, they no longer have solderable leads. I tried polishing one a bit but that didn't help. So I will be replacing all six with Thermometrics CL50.

In Italian:
buggerare (transitive): to swindle or cheat
buggera: (he) cheats

Cheap cheat BTW, Uri has dropped a G...

One of my daughter's friends has a blown up Bugera which I offered to look at and repair if I could only for the cost of parts. I am not disappointed that he has not yet taken me up on my offer. I can only imagine what the inside of one of those looks like.

Some of the most amazing music in history was made with equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

No need to go to China, just have a look at your friendly neighborhood penal establishment.

In all fairness to Bugera and Chinese built equipment I'm just as loathe to go inside a modern Peavey built right here in the good ol' U S of A.

Wait until you get a chance to work inside a Chinese-made Peavey tube amp----- such as the Windsor 100 watt head................gldtp99
