got hold of an old amp chassis
« on: April 26, 2010, 04:20:51 pm »
hi again guys well ive got hold of a tube chassis for well next to nothing .
im led to believe its out of an old tape machine .
it has a brimar 6bw6 tube i read up i believe similar to 6v6 could be tottaly wrong.
and also takes a mullard ecl 82 an ecc 83 i thought fro what i paid worth having anyway.
so now im stocking up parts unfortunatly not on the champ aspect.
to me now it looks salvagable for possibly a very simple amp as i would like to have a go at.
and ive been reading the fastest way to get goofing with amps lol ,and well thats an interesting read.
anyway i shall be recieving it over the next few days ,and i shall test it.
and well if nothing else i can take a good look at some piont to point wiring ,an ok to laugh lol i wont take offence

I have a 1963 Dallas/Shafetsbury who use the same electrolitic caps (the yellow ones).

Check out Doug's Schedule 40 amp schematic. You should be able to build it on that chassis.

you are correct... another 9pin 6V6 equivalent is the 6CM6.

thankyou ,well i recieved the item today.
popped some tubes into it and well it seems to heat up well .
the chassis i noticed has another 2 tube sockets a small 5 pin i believe
and a nice fat 8 pin ,unsure of what would of been in them,
as well not in the description of the item when i bought it.
but well all a little extra id say,so now well a little more homework
