BOSS BD-2

I just bought a BOSS Blues Driver pedal and ordered the Monte Allums H20 Plus stack Mod kit for it
The sound clips sound pretty good and was wondering if anyone else has an opinion of this pedal.

I did that mod to my BD-2 last winter and wrote about it here. It sounds great, very much like an overdriven tube amp, and it was fun to build.  The hardest part is getting the old chip off the board.

I have this pedal with this mod.  It rates great alongside my other dirt pedals (OCD, Zen Drive, Hot Cake, Direct Drive).  Different but good.

I just finished the BD H20 Blues Stack Plus mod. All parts fell off the board easy with the help of the solder wick. I played the pedal today before doing the mods. All i can say is WOW!

There is much more tonal range and smooth tube tone depth than stock. The mids are more adjustable and the gain can go where ever you want to be from just on the edge of breakup to all out punching a window out of the house

I am very please. It took 2 hours to complete the modification. I hate to admit this but i think this almost replaces a tube amp

Thats not going to happen but i ran a SS Fender Deluxe DSP through it on the clean channel and i almost cant tell the difference between that amp and my tube amps

Very full pedal and very responsive / Wicked nice pinch harmonics and the notes do not decay or buzz out / Great smooth and long sustain

I have a bunch of JRC 4558 chips and was thinking of what they would sound like in the BD

In all honesty I HATE overdrive and distortion pedals. But I was pretty much forced to use one when I played with this guy. I tried everyone I could find and even some expensive ones. The BD-2 was hands down the most natural sounding and was as far as I remember the only one that when you turned down your guitar volume control it actually cleaned the sound up like it would happen without it.

I'd like to hear some clips of this mod.

I have never been crazy about distortion pedals. There are a few that are smooth and well rounded. Most are just to grainy and buzzy and mask a good amps tone. I am getting setup finally to make sound clips. Thats what i have been working on today. Placing recording gear in a sound station that will be out of my work stations area. I have a reel to reel that i am going to try out.  I can feed the sound out from the reel to reel to my computers soundcard and edit using Guitar Tracks Pro. It's an old program but it's simple enough to use and i am already familiar with it.

I did not post a link specifically to the Monte Allums BD-2 page

It is a password encripted PDF file. The purchaser recieves a download and then you use your pasword to open it. Monte is very strict on his mod info. I dont blame him or anyone else for doing this. Some buyers were reselling the mod info.

I have not tried this one yet but probably will the BD-2 is another i like out of the box so I imagine it sounds like you said after the mod.  I like his mods and like doing them.  Just ordered the DS-1 Roxx mod I posted in another post.
