When I was Young - Eric Burdon & The Animals
« on: July 13, 2010, 01:22:22 pm »
Here's a tune from one of my all time fav 60's bands
Eric Burdon & The Animals - When I was Young

I break out the vocal pipes on this one.
Here's mix #1 - How's the mix on your end?

You can play it here or download the .mp3

Ya, it's a great tune.

Just noticed that my fill parts almost sound like a horn section.

Wow!  That was a great version of that tune. I really enjoyed it. Good singing too. Sure captured that psychedelic feeling from that band and the era it was in.    Brought back some memories.

Always like Eric Burton.  Don't Let Me be Misunderstood was my all time favorite of his.

Thanks for sharing it.  Jeff

Thanks Jeff.

Eric Burdon had so many cool tunes.
I love the Animals stuff and still listen to it.

Saw some old footage of eric Burdon on tv when he was just off the boat and very young.
He had all his chops in place at a very early age.

Thanks man,

Glad you liked the horn section.

Someone on another forum pointed out that the vocal volume goes up and down too much in places.

Sounds cool to me. You singing on this one Doug? Nice job! Did the original use a sitar for that one part or was that just one of those effect pedals? Nevermind, I looked at the video it was a combo of guitar and fiddle...

Regards,

RD

Ps: Here's the video I was watching:

Thanks Rev,

Hard to say what they used on the record.
The band is playing along to the record on that live performance, except Eric.

I always thought there was a bit of Sitar on that fill part.
