My new HD Stereo camera
« on: July 22, 2010, 08:22:10 pm »
I just got a new Canon HD camera that shoots video in 720P video and it records sound in stereo
So today I was testing the movie video and sound functions.

Pretty cool shooting video in High Def, but I soon found out that there's no way to upload High def video to the web.
A 3 minute video would be way over a gigabyte (and that's compressed) in size and would require 5 meg a second download speeds.

So I ended up reducing my test video to about 1/4 the true size and left the stereo sound at 16bit 44 khz
Wish I could show off the high def. video  :embarrassed:
It looks awesome on my computer and big plasma TV
The sound is way better on the high def recordings than in this clip.

I'll fool around with some other web formats and see what I can come up with as far as web uploads.

Anywho, here's me doing a test, playing along with my backing track called Groovin.

The link should open windows media player on your PC

Man, that was waaayyyyyyyyy coooooooool !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The picture on that was excellent. Very clear with nice definition. Much better than most of the Utoob home stuff I've seen.  Sound was much much better also.

I'm impressed with the quality.

You sure made playing that tune look effortless. Very nicely done. I liked the tune. I don't remember your guitar looking that bright of a metallic red?  Same guitar?

Looked like you were getting in the groove and having fun with it.

Thanks for sharing it.

With respect, Jeff

Thanks Jeff

Yeah, same ole JS1200CA guitar.

I love the groove on that tune.
I can play along to that groove for hours and not get bored.

Man, you should see and hear the unedited video and sound.
There is a huge difference.
The only way to get the full quality is play it on a computer or play it on a DVD or Blue ray disc.

I am going to play around with it some more and upload a few more test.

Cool.  Doug the cyclist, no gut.  And very relaxed with the guitar.

I need a camera so you can see my stiff playing style as the guitar rests on my belly.
I will be swift.  And merciful.

Actually, I screwed up a bunch and repeated phrases because of the camera

Playing with a camera on me affected my playing
It's like someone talking to me disturbing my concentration as I play.

I play much more relaxed and smoothly without a camera

yeah, same thing here.

Not sure if I could play in front of people again.
It's easier when it's just 1-4-5 blues stuff, but not as easy with the too many notes stuff.

There's lots of things to remember and key changes all over the place

The little band I am in just had their first paying gig at an Elks.
(I'm just in it for fun and experience).

I usually play bass, but since I know Sleepwalk and stuff like that
I get to give the guitarist/singer a break.  We did a swing blues
jam and my left hand basically solidified for a few bars.

I hate that.

I hate when that happens.
Sort of like a small panic attack I guess

I normally play guitar, but I like to play bass. But I can't do it for very long. I've spent so many years trying to relax my hands while playing, to get a 'light touch', that it's as if i've lost all physical strength in my left hand. So I cram up reeeeeeally quickly on a bass.

I hate that too.
