Just back from the George Thorogood show
« on: August 14, 2010, 11:39:10 pm »
WOW!
NW Ohio rib off. $5 admission and all the fantastic ribs you can eat from like 15 vendors at $2 a bone.

OH yeah and some guy with a white guitar and a slide on his finger playin' music for an hour and a half.

The ribs were HOT, but those guitar licks he kept pulling off were SMOKIN!

He makes playing a guitar look like a stroll in the park.

The Destroyers were tight as spandex on a fat chicks butt. You could tell they must have been bored playing the same songs for these last 30+ yrs and were having fun, but Geo would change things up on the fly and those guys followed so quick and seamlessly it was amazing.

I spent less than $40 tonight with my date, ate till I was full as a tick on a hounds ear, drank so much fresh lemonade and danced with quite a few cougars
LOL you guys who don't "fast dance" it's OK, I'll dance with your ladies :D three at a time if I HAVE to :angel

These kind of shows are so much fun, for an hour and a half or so you get to sing along dance around  and feel like your 21 again.

Makes me mad I didn't go see Peter Frampton last night, he was Fridays entertainment. But I am more than double 21 now and two shows in a weekend would have had me in traction by Monday LMAO

Sounds like what I did last weekend - Sweaty Teddy Nugent on Friday night and Peter Frampton on Saturday night.  Both FANTASTIC SHOWS!!!!  At our local fair.  They always do a good job bringing in the acts.  Last year was CDB and the year before was Pat Benatar and Styx.  Lots of country stars too.  About ten years ago they got Def Leppard.  Close and intimate, great stuff!

It's sad that Def Leppard was doing fairs ten years ago, but I love 'em enough to go see them anyway. The make their way through the Chicago area once in a while. The last time it was a triple bill with Poison and Cheap Trick on before.

I love the fact that a ton of our favourite bands are either still going strong or reforming for old times sake (or in the Who's case, to pay Entwistles bills).

How big was the venue where Thorogood played?

There were about 15,000 at the Def Leppard show - I don't think they were too sad about that!  About 8,000 is usual for the rest of the acts.  This is a big outdoor venue and they do it up right.  That's probably why they can book the big guys.  Some of the old hair bands still doing the makeup looks a little cheezy...  As my daughter (at the age with no filter) says, "They look like a bunch of creepers!"  I still like to hear the old bands live too.  They are all great players.

I would have to guess at about 5,000 at the show that night
