which fender is better
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
hi all,
i will soon be building a new amp and i want to model the clean channel after a fender ab763 design. i looked on schematicheaven and fender had many amps use ab763 schem.
i noticed that the normal channel in bandmaster, pro, showman, and super reverb are identical running on the same B+ voltages, ~375V
the deluxe on the other had uses the same circuit as ones above but the B+ voltages are ~230V
how does the sound character differ in the deluxe running at lower voltage? i want a channel with lots of headroom on this channel. should i go with the higher B+ or lower?
thanks

The main difference is that the Deluxe is driving a pair of 6v6 tubes for 22 watts. Deluxes do not have lots of headroom. The other amps drive 6L6 and produce 30-40 watts.
If you want clean with headroom, use a Super Reverb as an example. It's really a great amp.

thanks ken.
Here another question. If i have lets say a super reverb, what would be the effect of dropping the B+ voltage for V1 by 100 volts? i'm slightly confused here regarding headroom. Does less voltage on the plates of a preamp tube mean that tube will saturate earlier therefore less headroom in preamp? I would imagine it would be the other way around...higher voltage -> less headroom. please clarify.
thanks

voltage Q in preamp
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I like to pop up coap's question, because I was wondering more then one time about that...
As I understand higher plate voltages on the preamp gives better bass response, what else does it provide. I imagine also with a higher voltage the tube needs a stronger signal to be driven into saturation ore cutoff, would that mean a cleaner sound - am I right ore wrong on that?
And also what does mean "headroom"
