Two stage reverb?
« on: August 28, 2010, 04:41:54 pm »
Quick question....
is it possible to put in a reverb circuit using only one tube/ 2 stages? I have posted before about my 40W "5E3 Deluxe on Steroids" kit that I have already modded to have a tremolo & BMT tone stack, with the 2nd 12AY7 stage used to recover gain lost in the tonestack. One channel in other words, just a normal AB763 channel essentially.

It sounds great but I am not done; my chassis can hold one more 12AX7 and the PT has just enough heater current left over for it. I was going to do a buffered effects loop but I would probably only use it for a SS reverb pedal anyway. And the tremolo (2 stages) is awesome so it must stay.
Any advice on this is most welcome.

Check the schematics section, tubenit has done a number of one tube reverb amps.

Found it. I looked before but there's a lot of stuff on this site to wade thru.... Will try the "1-tube reverb".

Also check out the gibson scout GA17RVT, it uses a 1 tube reverb.  Nathan has a schematic for one he is working on in this thread:

Wow, he's having a hell of a time with that scout reverb. I don't even know what kind of tube he's using. Since I have a bunch of 12a-7s I'm gonna try tubenit's circuit. I also see that he has the simplest imaginable effects loop in his Blues amp. What's the advantage of the tube-buffered loop I couldn't get to work, when it's as easy as that? (2 stereo sockets)
