« on: January 11, 2011, 11:25:41 am »
This may be a  stupid question but here goes , is there any difference in the big bottle 6CA7 and the El34, to my ears I hear a diffenece.

Any tube unit can be brought back to life.
I never meet a tube I didn't like.

You should hear differences btwn diff makes of el34s or even tubes of the same manufacturer. This is why Groove Tubes marks tubes w/ diff #'s for early or late break-up.
To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research.

Real EL34 has a suppressor grid and softer vacume, US made 6CA7 is a hard vacume tube and has beam forming plates instead of suppresor grid for grid 3 structure.

Should sound different.
