Nothing here in the mountains of western north carolina

It's Raining and it's 42 degrees.
Forecast does not call for snow here, but you know how that goes.

Blissfield MI, 20 minutes north of Toledo OH

so far about 8" and drifts about 2'.

Ice pellets coming down now.

Well we ended up getting 21"s or so, but thankfully it was very light and not the heavy wet stuff. It was not that bad to dig out. We did get a few 5' and 6' drifts in the area, and the big snow plows could'nt even get through.

I was about 9 when Chgo. had it's record blizzard in 67. That was 23", so this is close. Their callin it 3'rd all time for Chgo. Funny thing is the way the wind was blowing and because the snow was powder, we did'nt have to dig out the cars. There was nothing on them at all, and you could walk all the way around them like someone had shoveled a path. I've never seen that before, but I'll take it.

Now our golden love's it, but our beagle she's not to thrilled with all the snow. I had to go out in the yard and make a path for her. I walked through the snow in a big circle and the the snow was well above my knees and up to my waist in a good portion of the yard. Now I'm only 5'9" but still thats deep, for around here anyway.

Hope all of you are safe.

Oh, almost forgot to mention, it's goin down to -9 tonight.    :icon_pale:

I'm in NW Indiana, about 50 miles by car ESE of Chicago. It finally stopped snowing at about 4pm yesterday, so I was able to shove my snow-thrower around. On my driveway I had snow up to my kneecaps (I'm 6 ' 3") so that was hard work. The wind was still blowing quite hard so I was creating my own blizzard :)  I had to walk around the corner to get gas for the machine and at least 75% of passing motorists offered me a ride (assuming I had broken down probably), which was quite heartening :)

And this morning my car informed me it was ZERO deg F. Although as we speak the temperature has soared up to 12 deg F.

Downeast Maine (poor side of Bar Harbor)---

Since 1 Dec we've had 72 inches of snow fall. Much of the Dec and Jan stuff was soft, it slumped, there's around 30 inches on the ground. We had 11"-16" snow at once in Feb but it was fluffy, plowed like feathers (stacks like feathers too).

Marden's closed at 11am so the state closed at noon but open the next day. No drama.

Then a few days ago we got 2"-3" of DENSE slop. The snowpack actually went down: 16" + 3" = 15"! Plows like concrete, break the plow if you ram it.

There's more drama in the light-stuff than the heavy stuff. People who should know better drive too fast, hit ice, kiss ditches or trees. May as well be New Jersey.

Put my plow-truck in the ditch, but within a minute another plower stopped and chained me out in a jiffy.

Couple months back, on light snow, a car swerved a deer and went through our mailboxes instead. My custom mailbox 20 feet in the woods with a crumpled hood. Put in a $9 mailbox for the winter.

A lot of people here shovel their roofs.

Today we hit 43 degrees but we've mostly been near 20 in day and 15 to negative 4 at night.

I had an Uncle in Berwick Maine had a 100 acre farm
The warmer southern end with Tax free shopping in Somersworth New Hampshire
Every one on his road had the MAINE mail boxes made
I guess some farmer had the bender and the steel
The mail box hung over next to the road
The supports were about 6 feet off the road
Snow plow just went under the mail box LIKE THIS
