rebuilding an Ampeg reverbrocket 1966 from scratch?
« on: February 07, 2011, 04:28:31 pm »
I attempted to do this back in 09 but family issues, death in family and other things kept me away.Im using a Hiwatt 42 turret per side board. What i want to know is the best grounding method for this amp.The factory daisy chained black wire from the ist eyelet all the way down the board and terminated at the pre-amp filter cap.All pots are grounded to the chassis. The 3 prong ac cord green wire is bolted to the chassis right were it comes out of the strain relief.also the ac switch ground wire is connected to the ground side of the pilot lite and the ground side of the140ohm 10 watt power tube cathode resistor.Hes got long black wires goin a long way to ground certain components. id like to know the best way for grounding.Im an electronics tech for a us govt agency and play guitar but i like building more than playin .go figure.thanks for any help

Try this,  http://www.el34world.com/schematics.htm    Scroll down about 3/4 of the page to  > helpful info items > charts and diagrams > amp grounding diagrams and right below > amplifier current flow.

Also,   http://www.aikenamps.com/TI_Aiken_adv.htm   Go to star grounding.

And one more,   http://www.freewebs.com/valvewizard2/grounding.html  These should point you in the right direction.

Guys here swear by Dougs grounding plan.

Hope this is helpful to you and your build.

Ampeg's grounding is probably good if you do not deviate a bit.

It may have funny details but there's probably a reason.
