A yellow Deluxe gets done
« on: March 06, 2011, 03:04:36 pm »
Built for a friend. Iron is from a Heathkit model A7.  This is where the 12v heater questions came from.
The coupling caps were sourced for this project too.  Had to sort through a bunch for the good ones.
Sounds like a tweed with mojo.

Chassis is a Hammond Steel painted and baked... Forgot what you call that stuff.

I got a yellow tolexed Deluxe Reverb cabinet waiting for a chassis. I dig the yellow though I've never seen one done. Nice looking build for sure Loosechange.

Nice build!  Hi-fi OT: 20 - 20K CPS and potted too.  What is your impression of the tone of this iron for guitar?

I love the looks of those potted transformers. Makes me want to tear up my "Rocky" conversion and do something like that.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

With the potted transformers you should've done an Ampeg style "flip top"

Either way, really clean and impressive looking.

Once again, very, very  _ _  NICE _ _    !

Also you got the PS/VVR thang goin on, and hey no sheilded grid wire.

Hey, what # is that now for new builds, got to be at lest 25 or more, plus all the ones you've rebuilt and modded?

Must be a lot of happy git-tar players up around were you live.       :toothy9:        :guitar1

Thanks guys.

I nicknamed this project the Bumblebee.

The amp sounds good. The HiFi iron does not seem to effect the warmth of the amp. Many people use the Hammond OT's and they claim to be full bandwidth and get good results.

Yup, got the VVR (Plate and Screens) and only one shielded grid wire... The long one from the pots, under the board and connected to V2.

Don't know how many I've built by now but it's a lot. Everyone a custom.

Very Nice build , I think you will find with using the HiFi Iron it to be a more versatile amp
