Using a revibe in effects loop?
« on: March 13, 2011, 10:57:10 am »
I have been youtubing the 6g15 and listening to clips of revibe and 5h15t - liking them a lot.
(I am aware that the 5h15t is trem/verb and the revibe is vib/verb and the creator of the 5h15t also authored the mod for the revibe-t   to reduce hum - i was confused for a bit!)

Anyway to point,
alot of folks run this unit before the amp -
While the reverb is awesome i am not a fan of running reverb before the amp - i cant exactly put my finger on it or explain sonically why but it just as never been especially pleasing to my ear doing it that way.

Is the revibe designed to be used before an amp or can it be used as successfully in a loop.

would you recommend a particular type of loop?

thanks
Cheers,
Bakerlite

The revibe is designed to be used before an amp, not in an effects loop. You could probably modify it to work in an FX loop. Maybe someone here has already done so.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

We could probably figure a modification (if needed) to run the unit in an effects loop. To do that, we'd want to know exactly what your loop looks like.

I haven't had a Revibe unit, but I used to own a Fender standalone reverb. I wouldn't object to running it in a loop, but I never have before now (none of my amps had a loop). I think you'd want a "smart loop" with send a return level controls, rather than a "dumb loop" that just has jacks and assumes you'll match up levels alright.
