teisco checkmate 50 amp - BULB QUESTION below
« on: August 16, 2011, 08:10:44 pm »
Just got this in. The coupling caps are leaky (as usual) and Filter caps need replacing too.
This amp is true point to point and it's got some weirdness.
Check out the schematic (best I could find) and look at the E-OSC device. When you flip a switch it plays a tone mixed in with the guitar. Don't know why you want that.

E-OSC... Plays an E note for tuning. Gretsch did that on several amps too. Handy back in the day.
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

No, it's for playing eastern world music.

It's for a drone tone, key of E.          :m20

We've just all gotten spoilt with the $20 clip on tuners. I had someone not that long ago look at my old pitch pipe I used to use, and ask what it was.
Tapping into the inner tube.

That was my first question was "what key?".

Hey, at least they were aiming for rock and roll with the key of E!

Or else it would have been to the orchestral tuning key of A.Me thinks not.

Any way to hook a pot, or something, up to it on a wha pedal to get different keys?

I can't figure out what type of bulb this is other than it's 6.3 volt because I can't take it out.
How does this bulb come out??

Get rubber hose a little smaller inside than the bulb. Push in a bit, turn counter-clockwise 1/8 turn, it should jump out. Just like a 1940s-1980s car tail lamp bulb.

So, it's a bayonet style? Like the #47 but half the size. It's blown so I need to replace it. Do you know what it's # is? Thanks!

Shove a drill through. Goo an LED inside the holder. Infinite life.

Sorry about the bum steer.
