Fender "Princeton Recording" Attenuator...NEED One.....
« on: October 09, 2011, 01:34:21 pm »
Guys.... I'm coming up with a dead end o a replacement "attenuator" pot for my Princeton Recording amp......it's a cheap one for sure, really flimsy design....shaft is loose (moves in and out and shorts) and is now just shot....... :BangHead:

I've been unable to find one........hate to go through a dealer.........Anyone know this amp and have a connection for this baby?  Need one pronto............ :dontknow:

We have proven once again no plan survives contact with the enemy, or in this case, with the amp.

I'm pretty sure this isn't a standard pot, it's probably a pot + switch(es) and/or an encoder - the PRA is basically a dual amp, more or less a toobed PR with a solid state section coupled thru a resistive attenuator controlled by said pot and relays.

No schematics in my files, and no part number for the pot. Your best best would be to contact Fender, ask for the schemo and then try to find the pot as a Fender spare part.

Princeton Recording's are not on their list.

The name of this amp is the "Princeton Recording".  Neither do they include a schematic in the owners manual, or a parts list.

It's like tryin' to fix a Maserati at your local Kia dealer I guess.  Everything seems to be a big secret.

This control MUST be out there somewhere........considering the lousy quality of the part, I can't believe I'm the only one who's needed it.  I just can't find it........or any info on it......... :help:

Thanks FYL...........   We have a request in to Fender, but so far no response.

I've done this before and they usually just refer it to a service center........I guess at this point I'll take anything I can get.......I'm sure they'll inflate the cost, but it's their prerogative..........

Not according to Patent #6,816,009. I'm thinking FYL was right about it being a rotary encoder.
