Said to hear that.A true legend and a classy guy.

A friend of mine has  a banjo  from his uncle he claims played once by Earl.Says  his uncle was in in the biz.My buddies name happens to be Scruggs also.

I saw Earl Scruggs several times. Incredible musician and showman.  He seemed like a really humble man.

Also knew a guy in Dallas who was from Tenn who took banjo lessons from him at one point.

We keep losing some of the true greats, but I am grateful for what they contributed and inspired.

I  _ always _ enjoyed him on the Beverly Hillbillies.   

He was a fine player and changed American music, bluegrass would not be the same with out him, nor would country music.

Sad to hear he's past on.

The Man left behind a tremendous legacy! You know I cried when Chet Atkins passed as I had lost a friend who never knew me. When I got my first guitar at 14, my Grandaddy played some Chet records for me and tried to influence me to learn his style. I really was not interested in Chet at that age, and a few years later my grandaddy passed. Now when I hear Chet I am reminded of my Grandaddy and what he was trying to say. Thank You Mr. Scruggs for what you have meant to the music world. You will be sorely missed.

I remember not too long ago seeing him on Letterman.

As they panned from musician to musician, I remember thinking that guy there looks a LOT like Steve Martin.

They were playing Foggy Mountain Breakdown, (the BG equivalent of Smoke on the Water) thier fingers going so fast and Earl looked almost bored.
