I LOVE these kinds of guitar parts and tone. Clean maple fret board strat, neck pup, Fender amp with 6L6's, verb and a little delay.  

He wrote this song, along with many others. Remember "Polk Salad Annie", and Rory Gallagher covered "As the Crow Flies". They call him the father of "swamp music".
