5e3 hi/lo jack wiring from library
« on: April 02, 2012, 09:51:00 pm »
I was going through the library and saw Hoffmans suggestion on wiring hi/low jacks.   It looks like he relies on the chassis to jack contact for ground.

Is this the way most do this?  Looking at the Ceriatone layout I was working from, it looks like they wire the ground tabs to a chassis ground.  The Hoffman pic certainly looks simpler.

Thanks for your thoughts and comments

Maybe 50/50.

Classic US practice is to ground metal input jacks on chassis.

There are also plastic jacks which must be grounded via wire.

Either way can work fine.
