A GREAT bit of television.....
« on: May 08, 2012, 12:45:35 am »
...if I do say so myself.  I may be a little biased, though, it being about my dad!

The editor, the sound guy for Tim's section, the guy doing the other music for the section, and the president of the network are all customers of our shop (the editor just bought one of my guitars, and the sound guy has my dad's #10), so we were pretty confident it would be good, and of course, the past episodes were all so good that we expected it to be good.  It came out even better than expected.

THAT is interesting... and leads to the question of how much does your dad charge for such quality.

His guitars start at $4,600, and go up from there.  compared to other builders who have built as many guitars, his prices are very reasonable - too reasonable, according to my mom!

That was a really fine story.  You had a great upbringing, to have had that kind of environment to be raised.

And, I enjoyed The Cactus Blossoms, as well.

Man Gabriel, your dads work is beautiful! And the _sound_ of the guitar the guy was playing was wonderful to say the least. Very full and rich, yet not muddy.

 :bravo1:

I too liked the Cactus Blossoms. I'd go to see them play.

Sucks to be me, I guess. I can't get the video to ever start playing on that site.

Not at all.  The most important thing is a love of guitar, and for a lot of people a guitar they feel is better than they deserve is a great motivation to play!

I'm lost for words. Such beautiful instruments. That is Master craftsmanship of the highest quality. I can understand why someone who doesn't play would treat it as an art object to be admired. I had tingles down my spine from the sound , such a full, rich and clear instrument. Spell binding to listen to. If I could afford it I'd have one in a heartbeat but the sad truth is I'll always be an apprentice and never a master worthy of of such an instrument. I'll add it to my lottery list. Thanks for sharing.

I was amazed. Your Dad's doing something in life he's really passionate about and I can tell you've followed in his footsteps. Tell your Dad he did a great job on the vidio. His work is awesome. The guy doing most of the playing was great too and did a good job of demo-ing the great tone and projection. If I could play like him, I think I could forget about my electrics for a while. Thanks, Platefire

Dad got another one this week!  It is only local news, but it is on the single most watched news program in Minnesota, so that's got to be a good thing!!!

Gabe,

Thanks for sharing that!  Very nice tribute to your father's great work.

Glad he was honored with that.

With respect, Tubenit

cool stuff!

The head scratcher is the guy who left a comment about buying a violin for his little girl who promptly broke it. She was 3 yrs old. I guess when money's no object it just makes sense spending thousands for a toddler?  :dontknow:

He was probably confusing us with someone else, too.  By `78, dad had already bought out his original partner, who was the violin guy.  It wouldn't have been made by anyone in our shop, at any rate, as we've never built violins; it may have been a consignment thing, though.
