Bassman Blond cabinet

I'm restoring a Bassman Blond from 60's and wonder
a cavity on the downside of the cabinet. Does the original Bassman have this
and what is its purpose, for the handle of the speaker cabinet maybe? See the picture.

Yes, it looks like a recess to accommodate the handle that might be on top of the speaker cabinet although the rubber feet on a head usually provide enough clearance for that.

  Hmm..the relief is definitely for a handle but I have not seen one on a Fender head cabinet.And they use metal glides not rubber feet on the bottom.

Yes, I have ordered the right hardware for it.
I'm thinking if I should fill the cavity in order to make the Tolex covering easier.

Don't the old Fender dog bone handles stand a little taller off of the speaker cab than the BF handles?

I probably misunderstood "the piggy back" hardware. I don't have that.
But now I understand the purpose of the holes there.

If it helps, Leevi, the indentation and holes are indeed the relief for the handle and the screw holes where the sliding bars attached to the bottom of the amp. I no longer have my Bassman, or I'd take pics. The sliding bars had slots cut into them so that they'd slide onto the corresponding bolt attachments on the cabinet. You could then tilt the cabinet back without having the head slide off.

Definately there for handle clearance.
Only seen on early, brownface Fenders, but quite normal, there.
Some will have the tolex covering the hole, while others will have it cut and wraped to the inside.
