ppp 6v6
« on: October 08, 2012, 03:42:38 pm »
Has anyone built a bassman or other amp with ppp 6v6's instead of pp 6l6's?  If so, what plate voltage did you run and how did it sound?
Thanks,
Ernie

What exactly does ppp6V6 mean anyway?

6V6's have less clean headroom, sound grindy rather early than 6L6's.I would be happy at about 420v on the plates with the right current.

Yes, I've done one, 410v on the plates, sounds awesome.

+1

Cathode biased, measured 181R cathode resistor
396 on the plates biased at 95% for JJ 6V6S.
