Aussie Made Stuff - Score #1
« on: December 19, 2012, 02:23:58 am »
Hi guy's, Tube stuff is had to find and so i"m chuffed to find this.

This one is an AWA STEREOPHONIC record player amp. I can't find any info/schem for this one but it looks pretty simple.
1X 12ax7
2X 6AQ5
1X 6X4
Controls
1X Off/on Tone
1X Ballance
1X Volume
1X PT
2X OT
In a neat chassis that is clean inside and has a three prong cord.
I was thinking that this i could use this for the power amp for my Behringer V-amp.

I havn't had the pleasure of converting/firing up these old amps,so some help is needed.

Starting up after a LOOOOOOOOOng sleep. Thanks

Power of this amp with  6AQ5 on each channel is max of 9 watts . Good for home playing.  I don't know if it will sound good.

You can restore it with some minor mods to use as guitar amp

or you can use chassis, transformers and tubes for a new build

Nice Score

This would be so great as a power amp on the other side of stereo modulation effects like delay or chorus. You could pull off the U2/Edge-style dual delay thing with only one amp and run stereo cabs... epic

You never know... a tube stereo might change your life.

I'd at least try some tunes through it before hacking.

I once bought McIntosh MC-30 just because a vintage guitar shop I used to hang out had one for sale, for cheap. I knew Mac stuff was supposed to be great, so I bought it. It was another 6-7 years before I found another cheap enough to buy to get into full-tube stereo.

Even with dog-turd speakers, it sounded better than any of my friends' stereos.

Hi guy's a little side project while i take a break from another build..........
This one having 2x6aq5 and a 12ax7 i was looking for paralled SE that i could use the two 6aq5 and found Angela's Super Single-Ended schem that might fit the build (i did find a utoob clip of this amp with 6aq5's)

Not knowing the rating of the PT i'm trying to stick to the three tubes.

The chassis is SMALL, althought its half wired up and ready to go. The OT's are 16ohm as stamped on the speakers and i don't think these speakers could handle a guitar, maybe  :dontknow:

The heaters are using the chassis for half their circuit and as well as the rectifier. Thinking that an artifical CT for the heaters might upset the rect tube would adding a small (500mA) for the rect tube supply be OK??? This might free up a few mA's to heat another tube in the hpoe that the PT also might have a couple mA's up it's sleeve.

Any ideas on a schem would be great. Thanks
