OD3A and 301A tubes
« on: January 05, 2013, 04:54:52 pm »
I was tinkering with tubes today when I got sidetracked going through the box.  I have some that I know that I will never use and would like to deal with one way or another.  The first ones I want to deal with are 4 OD3A voltage regulators, 1 OC3A regulator and a Western Electric 301A rectifier.  They look brand new but I have no way of knowing if they are.  Is there any demand for these out there?  If they are like old TV tubes and useless I will just chuck them.  Otherwise I will try to sell them.  Anybody know anything about these things besides what the data sheet says?

0C3, while not valuable are a tube needed for the most popular Leslie amps. (Models: 22, 122, 142, 222, and 45, 47, 147, 247 and 251) They are used to regulate the voltage to the screen and are said to be a huge part of the smooth overdrive tone of those organ amps.

Yeah the 0 (zero) in 0C3/0D3 means there is no heater voltage (or heater for that matter)...

Some of my old HP test gear uses 0C3 and 0D3 tubes.

Surprisingly, you could probably get money for anything with a Western Electric label on it, even if it's useless.
