Anyone remember the Sardonyx spaceship guitars?
« on: February 12, 2013, 06:48:58 pm »
The first time I saw this was when Howard Leese was playing one at a Heart concert.  I thought it sounded good, but he was so processed back then a washtub and string would have sounded good!  I've also seen pics of John Lennon supposedly using one on Double Fantasy.  As I understand it, only a few examples were built.  I always thought it looked REALLY COOL!  Kind of a googie/Jetsons guitar look!  Not for everyone, I'm sure...  I have seen examples with a longer top bar and then there is the shorter one like in the pic.  Looks like a lot of tap and phase switches.  I wonder what the body is made of?  Anybody know anything about them?  A search pulled up a possible name of Jeff Levine as the builder.

Here's another nice design...

A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

It's what came up when I googled Sardonyx,,,,so I cant take credit for it  :icon_biggrin:

Sluckey, I always thought that was a cool design, and I'm sure Billy Gibbons must have one of those in his collection....he's the only guy I can picture actually playing either one of those
