Embrujada
« on: May 26, 2013, 06:19:02 pm »
Here's a tune I am still working on
I just learned it a few days ago and my guitar parts still need some work

Sort of a haunting Spaghetti Western type of vibe
It was written by Evan Foster of the Boss Martians but I have changed it and re-arranged it a bit
The original has more of a distorted tone
I went with clean surf reverb type tone

Here's what I threw together in a couple hours
Embrujada

Great Job! I don't think your guitar parts need anymore work, sounds there to me. I would like to hear a more active bass guitar part in there but even so your guitar work and tone is excellent. Sure would be instrested in hearing the details of all you used to record it. Platefire

Thanks Plate.
I added a 2nd version up above with more bass.
Let me know if that is enough

I also added the recording chain diagram

It's basically a Guitar into a Re-Vibe then a tube preamp then processed by guitar rig then out to a power amp and speakers

My G string was a bit flat on the open string notes

Nice indeed! I heard the Spaghetti Western Orchestra was looking to expand their string section. You could become famous!   :icon_biggrin:
A schematic, layout, and hi-rez pics are very useful for troubleshooting your amp. Don't wait to be asked. JUST DO IT!

Yelp thanks! I like that added bass. Pretty complex recording hookup but the results are great. From a guy raised up in the 50's and 60's when great intrumentals were king---this reminds me very much of those classic timeless intrumentals but does have that movie feel. Not only spaghetti western but even a 007 vibe. Clint and Sean could come together and do some stuff with this background! Platefire

BTW-what guitar??? my best guess is one of your special tweaked fender strats.

Thanks guys

It's my White Ibanez JS2400 shown in the pic below
I don't play my Strats since I got the Ibanez guitars

I have one more Strat that I probably sell cause it just sits around and never gets played
The other Strat that I use for heavy sounds is the one that is set up for a big B string and is tuned B-E-A-D-G-B

Would never guessed an Ibanez. I not use to hearing Ibanez used for clean tone usually always distorted. I love white guitars, just something classy about them. Plate

I just switch the humbuckers into single coil mode and get nice clean tones

It still has a generic drum track

Sounds Great! Seems like I detected a hint of distortion of drive added in with the clean with a little more edge, but I might be mistaken. I remember the Ventures using the Mosrite fuzz and on some stuff they would add just a hint of fuzz in with the clean. I spent several years just listening to the Ventures exclusivly and copping their licks/songs. At the time I had an electric without a whammy and an amp without reverb and dreamed of making those full cord dives and hearing the depth of a cranked up reverb. Forgive me for comparing it to Ventures stuff but hearing the tune makes me think of those days---and they were very good days! Plate

I did not have any fuzz on but I may have been overdriving the inputs or something

yes, I love the ventures also
that's what made me want to play guitar all those years ago

I love this Doug.

What is the reason for the 2 soundcards? Is it a lower latency thing? Or...?

Guitar rig uses one sound card and the recording software uses the other one

Both pieces of software use the ASIO drivers
You can't use a device once it is in use

The sound card that I use for guitar rig is fed into the recording soundcard line is

Mixcraft records what the 2nd soundcard is hearing

Is that what you were asking?
