Squire Jazzmaster

I bought a Squire Jazzmaster for $225.00 with free ship. I got the guitar last wednesday. I am really surprised how well it is made. The finish is wonderful and the neck is super nice. I have already ordered the Tusq jazzmaster saddles to replace the cheap screw type saddles. They are adjustable for height and intonation. A friend brought over his 1964 jazzmaster and the Seymour Duncan design pickups are very nice if not the same as his 1964 jazzmaster. Im going to use some surgical tubing on the bridge posts to firm up the floating bridge a tad. I do not want to change the tone of this jazzmaster by buying a Mastery bridge. I hear that what you wind up with is just another stratocaster tone. I love this bluesy thing!

A guy named Magic Slim a Chgo blues man played 1 for many years with a thumb pick, 2 metal finger picks, flat wound strings through a BF SR. Man that guy would tear it up with that set up!!!!!

He used to let me sit in with him a lot. John Primer was his rhythm player then, he played with Muddy for a number of years. Slim would let me open the 3rd set with John and then John would sit out and I'd get to finish the set with Slim. 

Great big guy, 6'4"? He's still playin but he's not as rough and tumble as he was when he was in his late 50's? He drank Wild Turkey. After he had played a couple sets and had more than a few in him, then he'd say something funny to the crowd between songs. Then he'd tap the back of his hat so it would tip down a bit over his forehead with a big ol' smile on his face and holler, "Lets go ya'll!" 

He plays a Les Paul now a days. An old friend of mine plays rhythm for him now, Jon McDonald.

Yeah those Squire Vintage Modified JM and Jags sure are good quality builds, and unbeatable value for money.

I wouldn't bother with a mastery bridge either - a lot of mojo if you ask me. Once you understand the setup of JM/Jag bridges, you can get them working good. I've got the original spec saddles on my jazzie.

Wow! Thats wild playing.

Makes you think of buying a few more in different colors. I also bought a real nice Squire VM stratocaster neck for the one on the left of the JZ M. The rosewood on that neck is real dark with a super tight grain. It looks like ebony but it's not. Nice tint to it. There may be hope after all to see good quality fenders at 1984 prices again. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

My Son ordered the same model but white and didn't have as good of experiance. They sent him a Jagwire first and it had jazzmaster written on the box??? So he arranged to have it shipped back to get his Jazzmaster. I happened to be at his house the evening it came in and it looked great but I could tell by the look on his face all wasn't well when he ran his hand up the neck.
The strings were buzzing pretty badly, the action was like the way he likes it(low) and the neck was staight with a slight amount of relief. He ended up sending it back and getting his money back. Plate

jazbo8 I got mine from ebay of course. proaudiostar is the seller but the supply of them he had have all been sold. You can look under completed or sold and see the ones that sold. Bummer.

By the way was this website down for a day and a half on your allz computers? Had me worried a little on this end.

You've heard wrong.  Nothing is going to make a Jazzmaster pickup sound like a Strat - nothing.  The Mastery doesn't change the sound of the guitar - it just sort of makes it a bit more.

Granted, a Mastery bridge costs nearly as much as your guitar, but it is the only thing that makes that stupid trem design work.  The guys in my shop have installed more of them than anyone (Woody, who came up with the Mastery, works for us, when he isn't too busy with the bridges and such, and we were his first retail outlet) and I have never had a single customer who was unhappy they spent the money on a Mastery.
